Hey there! We’re SMARTcreative, a small and super excited dev team, and we just dropped the demo for our dice-building rogue-lite game, Luck & Loot! And we can’t wait for you to check it out! After we gather your feedback, we’ll dive into adding all the cool stuff missing from the demo. Spoiler alert: our journey here hasn’t been straightforward; it’s been rather strangeforward!

To give you a bit of background, we’ve whipped up some Android games and played around with a few game jams (if you’re curious, check out our page - smartcreative.cz). But our big dream? Making PC games! We wanted our next title to be something we’d actually want to play (what a surprise, right?). We tossed around tons of ideas, many inspired by our game jam entries. We even developed a tower defense game on a rotating planet (yep, sounds as weird as it is, but we still see potential here!), a card game where you’re a god making a thriving world (oh look, another planet!), and a bunch of other prototypes. But honestly, we weren’t sure if any of them would be fun.

So, we decided to create something we’d love! We started on a dark RPG set in a medieval monastery (because RPGs are known for being simple and straightforward, right…?). We made some solid progress—turn-based movement, combat, dungeon crawling! We even kicked off a blog and set up a Steam page (btw, Luck & Loot has one here). But then another game jam came along, and we switched gears again (don’t worry, the RPG isn’t gone for good—just taking a little break).

Luck & Loot started as a 3D dice-building adventure where you battle characters in an inn using dice. The feedback we got was super encouraging, so we felt like we were on the right track! We switched from 3D to 2D because they were boring… (and because those mad dice were never rotating as we wanted!). You can check out our game jam version. Since then, we’ve moved the gameplay to the dungeon, added more enemies, cool dice skills, and even more events on the way and a lot of other stuff, and here we are, the Luck & Loot demo is ready!
